our mission

The team seth foundation for traumatic brain injury awareness

The Team Seth Foundation For Traumatic Brain Injury Awareness is a 501c3 nonprofit organization organized exclusively for charitable, scientific and educational purposes. More specifically to raise awareness and advocate for inclusion for those affected by brain injury, apraxia, and aphasia. We offer financial support in the form of a one-time gift of $500 to children to help with their ongoing medical and therapy expenses. We offer peer support to those who have suffered a TBI or serve as the caregiver of a TBI patient. We offer hope and encouragement by sharing our personal experience. By our real talk approach, we help others on this journey navigate through the TBI obstacles to reach their full potential for recovery.

seth hanchey

Seth is a TBI warrior and advocate, Special Olympian gold medalist in powerlifting, and a social media influencer.

Seth Hanchey was 17-year- old when he acquired his brain injury. At the time he was serving as a full-time youth pastor and was enrolled as a full-time nursing student.

On September 28, 2011, he was on a 60-mile bicycle ride training for a triathlon when he was struck from behind by a van driven by an 81-year-old woman. He struck the hood, caved in the windshield, and was thrown over 167ft before landing on the highway against a concrete bridge guardrail. He died twice at the scene.

Since the accident, Seth went back to school and earned a degree in Massage Therapy, represented the State of Louisiana at the 2018 Special Olympic USA Games, and continues to share his story everywhere he goes.
